Windy City All Stars vs Portland
at Al’s.
Today we walked around Lincoln Square a bit. I guess I haven’t explored the area enough before. Today we found some awesome stuff. We bought these two little art pieces from Sacred Art, a store specifically for local Chicago artists. They had a ton of awesome art. The ones we got are from an artist called Kudu.la. He specializes in these fun critters. He’s my new fave.
“Chicago’s iconic Willis Tower (formally the Sears Tower) is set to become a massive solar electric plant with the installation of a pilot solar electric glass project. The high-profile project on the south side of the 56th floor will replace the windows with a new type of photovoltaic glass developed by Pythagoras Solar which preserves daylighting and views while reducing heat gain and producing the same energy as a conventional solar panel. The project could grow to 2 MW in size — which is comparable to a 10 acre field of solar panels — turning North America’s tallest building into a huge urban vertical solar farm.”

Hey, Chicago!
If you don’t have plans and would like some, I’ve got a mighty suggestion for ya. I’m very lucky to know very talented musicians. This evening, Heavy Sugar (funk/jazz/soul/pop) is opening for Dot Dot Dot (pop/dance) at The Bottom Lounge. Tix are $8. Show starts at 7.
Local bands. Local venue. Local you. Go!
My friend, Natalie, and her friends are putting on their own play at the Charnel House. I designed all their fliers, postcards, and website. If you care to take a looksie, check out the website! I’m pretty stoked about it. Also, they’re having a fundraiser at The Chicago Dramatists at 1105 W Chicago this Monday night. Heavy Sugar will be performing an acoustic set. Fun for all!
A stripped down version of our original song, “Valerie.”
We are Heavy Sugar. Enjoy.
“Old Chicago Gin is a brand of American Gin inspired by the spirit’s notorious history in Chicago during the 1930’s Prohibition Era. Each flavored Gin is connected to a place in Chicago relevant to Gin’s history”
So…that dinner I’ve been planning…that outdoor Tumblr inspired dinner, happened last night. Luckily, it did not rain. I had my mason jars, fake candles, and little pictures of everyone for seating cards. I have tons of leftover food and I think it went pretty well. People kept coming up to us asking what we were doing…just a nice dinner with friends. I couldn’t have pulled it off without the help of my super duper friends. It was definitely a night to remember.
